Press Release - 06 July
BBEG receive a letter
from Mark Simmonds MP regarding the East Midlands Regional Assembly
A letter from the East Midlands Regional Assembly
dated 21 June 2006 was received today, forwarded to the BBEG
by Mark Simmonds MP.
The letter states that the " 'Boston Southern
Economic Corridor' was among the schemes drawn from the RSS
and included in the assessment, but it did not, on this occasion,
emerge as one of the 30-odd schemes that were included in the
regional Advice passed to Ministers at the end of January 2006.
Schemes in Lincolnshire that did were: A1073 Spalding - Eye,
A158 Burgh By-Pass and Lincoln Eastern By-Pass." Read
The BBEG, of course,
think it is worth pointing out here that, as confirmed at the
Waddington Parish Public Meeting last month, Lincolnshire County
Council "have never applied for funding for a bypass"
BBEG receive responses to questions raised by Cllr Richard Austin
at the Highways PDG Meeting
The BBEG has also been made aware of the responses
given by LCC to the questions asked by Cllr Richard Austin at
the Highways PDG meeting on 15 May 2006 as follows:
1. Is Lincolnshire represented on the Regional
East Midlands Assembly? Yes.
2. Boston's population is rising and has reached almost 60,000
- there is no other town in Lincolnshire of that size that doesn't
have an outer ring road? The route of such a road needs to be
reserved. Paul Coathup was unable
to confirm whether Boston was the only settlement of 60,000
or more without a relief road in the UK however he did point
out that Lincoln was still without a complete ring road around
3. Funding from other sources needs to be investigated. Finding
alternative funding sources for road projects was an ongoing
process for the Council.
Once again, it seems, the emphasis of Lincolnshire County Council
is focused on Lincoln? The BBEG's own research on the East Midlands
Regional Assembly's website (www.emra.gov.uk), shows that Martin
Hill's name has been added recently to the members list on there.
