Dear Mr O'Connor

EXECUTIVE GROUP MEETING

Having attended the Executive Group meeting yesterday, following on from the Highways PDG meeting the day before, I would like to ask your opinion on the actual purpose of the Highways PDG meeting please.

Yesterday's Executive Group meeting, which was recorded, was Chaired by Martin Hill, had more or less the same presentation given by Officers about the Transport Strategy for Boston that was given to the Highways PDG earlier and then Cllr Hill allowed Cllr Richard Austin to deliver a 2 page summary of the document that he submitted to the Highways PDG previously.

There then followed questioning of Cllr Austin by Cllr Hill, followed by some very strong opinions delivered by Cllr Poll from Spalding East and Moulton, which were actually praised by Martin Hill after being delivered by Cllr Poll. A few other Councillors agreed with Cllr Poll's comments and Councillor Hill then strongly recommended that the Executive Group accept the Boston Transport Strategy for Boston (Option A).

As far as I am aware, at no point did Cllr William Webb mention any of the discussions or recommendations resulting from the previous day's Highways PDG meeting. Why not? Having witnessed the deliberations by Councillors at the Highways PDG meeting, wanting to make the right decision for Boston, Cllr Webb never even reported to the Executive Group the recommendations of the Highways PDG meeting - 4 Councillors had voted for the option and 3 against. Surely he should have done so?

Please could you explain to me why the Highways PDG meeting discussions or recommendations were never mentioned at the Executive Group meeting.

It was evident that this Executive Decision was made without hearing any recommendations from the Highways PDG meeting the day before, nor without any of the facts and detailed data upon which such an important decision for Boston should be made.

We are very concerned and look forward to your comments about this.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Yours sincerely
