Press Release - 22 November 2006

BBEG write to Martin Hill, Leader Lincolnshire County Council

Councillor Martin Hill
Leader of the Council
Lincolnshire County Council
County Offices
Lincoln LN1 1YL

22 November 2006

Dear Councillor Hill

On 15 November 2006 in the Boston Standard, with regard to Boston's road situation, you stated that 'no decision has yet been made and we have to await the final outcome of the traffic survey before a formal decision is made.'

However, we received a letter today from Mr I Marshall, representing Transport at the Government Office for the East Midlands, who states that he understands that 'the various studies undertaken by Lincolnshire County Council have concluded that a bypass for Boston would not be value for money and consequently the County Council has not made a bid for Government funding for such a scheme.'

Which is the truth?

Who made this decision without an economic assessment of Boston being carried out?

We hope you can explain to our fellow Bostonians and also those independent auditors and inspectors exactly why your statements seem to continue to conflict.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Yours sincerely

Robert Fisher
